All are invited to join Trinity Community Church, UCC for worship! Each Sunday we gather to worship at 10AM, to sing praises, to listen and grow from the words of scripture, and to share our joys and concerns as a Christian community of faith.
Trinity Community celebrates open communion (meaning all are welcomed to join us as we share Christ's table in remembrance of the Last Supper - no one is turned away) normally on the first Sunday of the month which we dedicate as Family Communion Sunday - as a reminder that we are all part of God's family.
We look forward to meeting you soon!

Sunday worship is a time to celebrate being a child of God through participation, singing, praying, listening to scripture, and sharing the gifts we each bring to the community called Trinity Community Church, UCC. Worship at Trinity normally lasts about an hour, sometimes a little less or more depending on any special moments such as baptisms, recognition of Lay Leaders, Communion, etc.
Since each United Church of Christ church is autonomous from each other, worship styles vary between churches. The following outline provides an overview of Trinity Community’s worship on a typical Sunday worship experience.
A sample bulletin from Sunday, March 22, 2009The Fourth Sunday in Lent* denotes standing5 to 10: A Time for Silent Reflection (carillon hymn/prelude). A time for all to gather.Lighting the Candles: Three candles are lit. The candles are a symbol of the fire of Pentecost, the fire of the Spirit, and a reminder we are called to be God’s children celebrating the two sacraments (baptism and communion) and be a presence of Christ throughout the world. Greeting and Announcements: A time of greeting and announcements for the good of the congregation. * Joining Together in Song: The choir and all who simply like to sing together in a group are invited forward to begin worship in song… Hymnal #568, Tis the Gift to be Simple, all verses. A Time for God’s Children and Circle of Prayer: All of God’s children (that includes all of us!) are invited forward for a time of bible reflection and public prayer. Joys and concerns are shared followed by the Lord’s Prayer and a threefold Amen. After the Amen children are invited to attend Sunday School. The Lord’s Prayer, Our Father: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive all our debts as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen. Threefold Amen: Amen, Amen, Amen. Bible Reading: From the Gospel of John 3:14-21 Reflection on the Bible Reading: Turning Celebration of Our Gifts: The Offering, A time for our members to share with God and the larger Body of Christ the fruits of their labors. Friends and Visitors to Trinity Community are invited to fill out a pink visitor’s sheet in lieu of an offering. On the first Sunday of each month a special collection is take for the Cicero, Berwyn, Stickney (CBS) Food Pantry.
Invitation (Unison): In joyous thanksgiving, we offer sacrifices of time and resources to announce God’s healing grace to the world. It is our privilege to participate in God’s wonderful works to humankind, to share the steadfast love that is saving us, and to offer life to those who are perishing. Amen. Doxology: The collection is brought forward… Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow (Hymnal #46) * Blessing (Unison): For life-sustaining gifts that we so often take for granted – for shelter, food, and meaningful tasks to do; for your steadfast love that awakens us and raises us from our sinful ways; for your word that guides and heals us – we give you thanks, gracious God. As we invest a part of all you entrust to us to further the ministries of the church, may we show to others the immeasurable riches of your grace in Jesus Christ. Make this church a beacon of hope for the world. Amen. * Closing Song: Hymnal #357, We Call Ourselves Disciples, verses 1, 2, 3, and 4. Final Blessing (Benediction) – by the Pastor. Song of Christian Friendship: All are invited to the center aisle to form a circle, hold hands, and join in song (Hymnal #433, Blest Be The Tie That Binds): Blest be the tie that binds our hearts in Christian love: the fellowship of kindred minds is like to that above. When we are called to part, it gives us inward pain; but we shall still be joined in heart, and hope to meet again. Our worship is concluded. Let our service begin. May God’s peace be with you throughout the coming week. We hope to see you next Sunday at 10 AM!
